Chris Cantell Discusses Microsoft, Google: Microsoft concureaza cu Google

Primul beta limitat de catre analistii web este pregatit de Microsoft pentru lansare in aceasta vara. Produsul numit Gatineau tinde sa concureze cu Google Analytics care este deja la versiunea a doua. Gatineau este similar in multe privinte cu Google Analytics, dar cu cateva schimbari clasice marca Microsoft. Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Kip Kniskern a scris pe site-ul LiveSide: "Bineinteles ca este similar cu Google Analytics, dar aparent Gatineau va fi capabil sa distribuie Live ID information si sa ofere informatie demografica." Un blog postat de Ian Thomas of Microsoft's Digital Advertising Solutions group, ne spune ca "Intrebarile deja au fost puse..despre sursa acestei data; raspunsul este ca ne luam informatia de la utilizatorii Live ID si profilele lor dar luam aceasta informatie anonim si nu se foloseste PII, cum ar fi user name sau e-mail".In pofida faptului ca este anonim utilizarea Live ID data ar putea anula alarmele private, care au fost mereu suspicioase la adresa Microsoft. Tehnologia de baza pentru Gatineau a fost conceputa de Microsoft in May 2006 cand a adus analisti canadieni de la firma DeepMetrix.Numele de cod este numele orasului Quebec unde DeepMetrix era localizat.
